| IAB Rendering – 2016 Toyota Innova’s rear Posted: 22 Sep 2014 01:57 AM PDT Based on a new ladder-frame chassis. Toyota is testing the next gen versions of two of its key models (Innova and Fortuner), both of which play a vital role in the company’s Asian operations. The next generation Innova especially, has been spotted on test in India many a time, ahead of its debut which – according to sources – is scheduled for next year. Seen here is our artist, Shoeb R Kalania, rendering the rear of the new MPV based on spyshots. One look at the new Innova is enough to confirm that the car has indeed grown in size. While the height and width of the test mules were relatively similar to the current model, the length, especially after the C-Pillar seemed elongated suggesting better cabin space for rear seat passengers. The third window has an interesting cut to it, and the taillights of the new Innova are horizontally oriented as against the current model’s vertically stacked units. Also see: Toyota Innova and Avanza special editions showcased in Indonesia Based on a new ladder-frame platform, the new Innova will be powered by a modern diesel engine paired to manual and automatic transmissions. While its debut is slated for next year, an Indian launch is expected in 2016. Maruti is readying a facelift for the Alto K10, and spy images from last week revealed the design of the small car. Rather than making cosmetic changes on the current K10’s body, designers have opted to use the Alto 800’s body and chassis, and adding to it new headlights, bumpers and taillights. At the front, the new K10 can be differentiated from the 800 by way of its angular headlights, a larger chrome grille, and its new bumper which gets foglight enclosures and a wider airdam. The side profiles of these cars can be told apart only by the blackened out B-Pillar seen on the new K10. Over to the rear, the new K10 is given a larger taillight clusters compared to the cheaper 800. The shape of the new enclosures are inspired by that of the Celerio’s to some extent. | Report – RHD Dacia Duster production shifted from India to Romania Posted: 21 Sep 2014 09:16 PM PDT Prevalent rust issues one of the reasons for the shift. The UK-spec RHD Dacia Duster entered production at Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Oragadam manufacturing plant near Chennai, India, and the first lot of cars were shipped in November 2012. Production of the RHD Dacia Duster has been shifted to the brand’s Pitesti plant in Romania since this year’s summer. While Dacia says that the production shift has been in the pipeline for a long time due to economic and logistical reasons, the numerous rust issues reported by the UK customers of the India-made Duster is also considered to be one of the reasons. It’s to be noted that earlier this year Dacia UK offered Duster customers free inspection and repair pertaining to the corrosion problem. By moving production from India to Europe, Dacia claims that the lead time of the RHD Duster to the UK market has been reduced by 2-3 weeks and the logistics is significantly cheaper. The Pitesti plant already manufactures LHD Dusters for the other European markets.
