Money, message and Trump: 6 lessons learned from the most tumultuous midterms in a generation

  Democrats won control of the House of Representatives, but Republicans bolstered their hold on the Senate. So what have we learned from the midterms? For starters, it showed that the 2020 campaign is already underway, with Democrats testing out presidential hopefuls and an assertively liberal message. Also, a new breach appears to have opened between white voters who have a college degree and those who don't. The elections also underscored how completely Donald Trump commands the GOP, with two-thirds of voters in the exit polls saying the president affected their vote.
